Jack + Kate 

We met at the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma, TN in August of 2018. Jack was a cute new student who always dressed to the nines and Kate was the SGA Treasurer with purple hair who led orientation. As we were in the same research group, all the students went out to dinner to welcome the new students and Kate promptly asked Jack if he was single! As the perennially awkward lady she is, she really was just trying to get to know him, but now that moment lives on in infamy. 

Cue six months later, Jack and Kate were both single and both trying to go on dates with anyone but each other. However, the rural dating pool and the fact that we both were into each other, meant neither of us were successful. After much teasing from their friends, we both decided to lean into the bit for the school Super Bowl party. Jack reached his arm around Kate to snuggle and her "I don't like hugs" posture was no more. By Valentine's Day we were officially a couple! 

The next few years involved Kate's CA internship, the writing of two engineering theses, a global pandemic, 2 Masters of Aerospace Engineering Degrees, several months of unemployment, a cross-country move, and two new jobs at a national lab. During all of this, we have visited 14 national parks, learned how to ski/snowboard, adopted a second cat named Finn, Jack completed two half-marathons, bought two EVs, and had too many to count "classic Jack and Kate adventures."

These days you can find us exploring a new part of the California wilderness and finding a local brewery on the way.  Jack will be drinking the hoppiest IPA on tap, Kate will be getting honey mustard with her fries, and if there are brussel sprouts on the menu we will be ordering them. We also love being so close to San Francisco and regularly make the trip for Jack's baseball league or whatever performing arts Kate is into.
